ABOUT ME

Hello, let me tell you a little bit about myself.
So, my name is Bart, as you already know.
I live in Belgium in the municipality of Sint-Katelijne-Waver, where I live with my wife Katty and son Jayden.
I started running in 2017, due to a proposal from my former employer.
He wanted to participate in an obstacle run with the company, so as not to be completely unprepared at the start, I started running.
Now so many years later, the microbe has got me well, from the first meter to currently 100 km (longest distance ran) I can just enjoy every moment.

 My goals for 2024

Run at least 2750 km
Finish a +100 km event

Keep having fun while running

MY GEAR

I always run with Altra shoes, these are very comfortable due to the wide shoes, and the risk of blisters is also reduced to a minimum. For the road, I use the Altra Paradigm 7 and for the trails I have the Altra Olympus 4.

I am not sponsored by Altra.
But I can recommend them!

I always use a trail vest during my long runs. I have already tested different brands and I must say the Salomon trail vest is head and shoulders above the rest for me. Together with the soft flask and water bladder, they offer many options for storing equipment that you may need during your long trips. Personally, I have the Salomon adv skin 12 and the active skin 4.

I am not sponsored by Salomon.
But I can recommend them!

During the working week, I always run before I have to go to work, which means that seeing and being seen are crucial in the dark winter months. That’s why I always rely on my Swift RL by Petzl.

I am not sponsored by Petzl.
But I can recommend them!

I recommend the Injinji toe socks for people like me who are prone to blisters. In combination with my running shoes, blisters are a thing of the past for me.

MY NUTRITION

I used to always have problems with my stomach during my long runs, I didn’t get enough carbs, or it was something else. I really started to look into sports nutrition, before, during and after the workout. What immediately struck me was that I had completely misunderstood everything. Then I ended up at Tailwind, it really opened my eyes for me. Everything you need is in your drinking bottle, no more hassle with sticky gels. If you would like to know more, take a look at the website, the link can be found below.

MY TRAINING

I have been using 80/20 endurens for just over 1 year, here is why I use and recommend it.

80/20 Endurance: Optimal Balance for Endurance Athletes

80/20 Endurance is a proven training method for endurance athletes that aims for the perfect balance between low-intensity (aerobic) and high-intensity (anaerobic) workouts. This ratio of 80% aerobic and 20% anaerobic exercises offers numerous benefits to athletes of all levels.

Benefits of 80/20 Endurance:

1. Improved Endurance Performance: By dedicating the majority of training time to low-intensity exercises, you increase your aerobic capacity. This translates to better endurance and long-term performance enhancement.
2. Minimal Overtraining and Injury Prevention: Focusing on low-intensity training helps prevent overtraining and injuries. Athletes can maintain consistent training without the risk of exhaustion.
3. Efficient Use of Time: 80/20 Endurance maximizes the effectiveness of training time. With only 20% of workouts at high intensity, you can reap the benefits of anaerobic development without overtraining.
4. Variety and Enjoyment: This method provides an opportunity to keep training varied and enjoyable. Alternating between low and high-intensity exercises keeps motivation high.
5. Scientifically Backed: 80/20 Endurance is based on scientific research and data analysis, increasing confidence in its effectiveness.
6. Individually Adaptable: While the general 80/20 ratio serves as a guideline, this method can be customized to athletes’ specific needs and goals.

Whether you’re a recreational runner, a serious cyclist, or a dedicated triathlete, 80/20 Endurance offers a structured approach to take your performance to new heights. It balances your endurance training, minimizes the risk of injuries, and maximizes your ability to achieve peak performance.

If you want to enhance your endurance sport performance, consider the 80/20 Endurance training method. It’s a proven approach that helps athletes train more efficiently and achieve better results, regardless of their athletic level.
